Get More from Your Searching

Your best path to a satisfying real estate search is not figuring out everything yourself. Your best path follows a proven system like the one this site offers you.

The Explore – Search – Connect method is a better way to search, a system you can use to find the right home, condo or a piece of land in Kingfield, in Carrabassett Valley, in Farmington and all over Maine.

Whether you are a first time homebuyer or a seasoned house hunter, here are five tips to help you get all the benefits of what you find here.

1. Explore the Lists First

Scroll down my home page and you will see more than 20 custom lists for towns in Maine’s Western Mountains. Here you can explore homes for sale, land for sale or just the newest listings in your target areas. There’s even a separate list for Sugarloaf condos.

Bonus Tip: If you don’t see a custom list you want, let me know. If I can, I will create one for you.

2. Go to QuickSearch

Looking for something specific? Just enter a Maine property address or a town name (or both) in the box at the top of the QuickSearch page. If you know an MLS listing number, you can enter it here.

Bonus Tip: Watch as choices appear below the QuickSearch box as you enter text. If you see the location you’re looking for, select it.

3. Go Deeper with Advanced Search

The Advanced Search (Property Search) lets you design the search you want.

Use the Min Price and Max Price boxes next to the Search button to set your price range, or leave them alone to see all prices.

Filters, next to the price boxes, give you more search options. You can sort listings by feature (waterfront, views, single-story, etc.), by property type (single-family home, condo, land, etc.) and more.

New in the last… is a handy filter. It lets you limit your search to listings new on the market within any number of days you choose.

Use the tabs at the upper left to switch between Search, Drive Time Search and MLS Number. If your search fails to produce results, make sure you select the right tab.

The tabs at the upper right let you switch between Map View and Card (photo) View. In Map View, you can enlarge your search by expanding the radius (up to 25 miles) or by choosing Drive Time Search.

Bonus Tip: Phones show only icons in the tabs. A third view, List View, appears on a computer or tablet but not on a phone.

4. Save Your Searches and Favorites

While you do not need to sign in to search, signing in is free and gives you extra advantages.

When you are signed in, you can save your searches to return to them later. You can also save your favorite properties to keep an eye on them. You can sign up for Neighborhood News to get in-depth real estate info about your target town.

Bonus Tip: If you would like to receive personal emails when new listings match your search, you can set them up in your Saved Searches.

5. Connect with Me

Ready for your next step? Don’t just call the agent who listed the property. The listing agent works for the seller, not you.
